Some of my most informative conversations about impact investing have taken place with Michael Lustig. On behalf of The Jewish Funders Network, Michael recently published an excellent, downloadable overview of impact investing concepts and Michael’s definition of what makes Jewish impact investing unique. Well worth a read!

Though a slightly misleading title, I found Lab Rats: How Silicon Valley Made Work Miserable for the Rest of Us by Dan Lyons an illuminating read. For me, more important than exposing the flaws of capitalism are the highlights of inspiring individuals and organizations working to impact society for the better.

Winners Take All by Anand Giridharadas is illuminating and depressing. It exposes the idea that seemingly well-intentioned elites often exacerbate the exact global problems they seek to solve. It’s a thought-provoking read on the role of various stakeholders - philanthropists, politicians/governments, corporates, etc. - and the way to really solve problems.
